"NO JOB IS SO IMPORTANT AND NO TASK IS SO URGENT THAT WE CANNOT TAKE THE TIME TO PERFORM OUR WORK SAFELY."
It is the policy of W. W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. to strive for the highest safety standards on our projects. Safety does not occur by chance. It is the result of careful attention to all Company operations by those involved, both directly and indirectly. Our employees at all levels work diligently to carry out the Company's policy of maintaining safety and occupational health.
Our safety program has been developed to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Particular emphasis is placed on the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the requirements applicable to our construction operations. It is the responsibility of all employees to be knowledgeable of the OSHA standards and to implement the rules and regulations they contain on projects under their direction.
Regard for the safety of the general public, our own employees and the employees of our subcontractors is a fundamental responsibility of our organization. We work vigorously to control risks that lead to human suffering or loss. The goal is the prevention of occupational injury or illness for the safety of our people and the public good.
Our company has developed a basic safety and accident prevention program which is followed on all projects regardless of size. This system evolved with the cooperation of our insurance carrier and the Mechanical Contractors Association of America. It is based upon our knowledge of construction after almost 50 years of experience and is supplemented by the advice and experience of our many partners. The program's primary focus is to anticipate and control the marginal safety acts and conditions which may exist during each job function.
As policy, all supervisory personnel are required to establish sound, definite and comprehensive safety measures and work practices commensurate with each operation of a project. At the beginning of a project, our job superintendent must personally notify every foreman of safety requirements for the job. Supervisors at all levels along with our safety inspectors and trainers enforce the safety requirements among our personnel and subcontractors in order to achieve the degree of safety awareness we expect. That safety awareness reflects positively in the quality and progress of the job to the benefit of our employees, our owner and our customers. Some of the features of our comprehensive program are:
A safe operation is organized, clean and productive. If every employee views occupational safety the same way we regard all other aspects of our operations, it will improve our ability to manage risk and complement the total performance of our Company. It is therefore of utmost importance that all aspects of our safety program be strictly adhered to and that the intent of this program be followed to the letter. Any recommendations to improve our safety program are encouraged and welcomed.
